Your First Model Photoshoot: What to Expect
A beginner checklist for preparing for your first model test or photoshoot and behaving professionally on set.

Your first shoot can feel unfamiliar, but preparation removes much of the uncertainty. Confirm the practical details before you travel and arrive ready to work collaboratively.
Before the shoot
Confirm the date, call time, address, expected duration, creative brief, wardrobe arrangements, usage and who will be present. If it is a collaboration, make sure everyone agrees what images will be delivered and how they may be used.
What to bring
Follow the brief first. A small personal kit may include simple undergarments appropriate to the wardrobe, basic grooming items, water, a phone charger and any requested shoes or clothing.
On set
Arrive on time, introduce yourself, listen to direction and ask when something is unclear. Professional behaviour matters as much as a strong photograph.
Boundaries matter
You can ask questions about styling, physical contact and changes to the agreed concept. If a situation becomes materially different from what you agreed or feels unsafe, you can stop.
After the shoot
Clarify the image-delivery timeline and credit requirements. Do not publish unreleased campaign material without permission. When you receive strong work, update your portfolio rather than uploading every frame.
