Skin, Hair and Grooming Before a Photoshoot

A low-stress preparation checklist for skin, hair, nails and grooming before a model shoot.

photoshoot grooming - Models House Academy

The best pre-shoot grooming is usually predictable and gentle. The day before an important booking is not the ideal time to experiment with aggressive treatments or a completely new look.

Follow the brief

Ask whether the client expects clean hair, natural nails, facial hair, specific body-hair grooming or makeup-free arrival. Requirements vary by job.

Keep skincare familiar

Use products your skin already tolerates. Sudden peels, strong actives or unfamiliar treatments can create irritation at exactly the wrong time.

Hair preparation

Do not make major colour or cut changes after being booked without discussing them when your appearance was part of the casting decision.

Sleep and practical preparation

Pack the night before, allow travel time and prioritise rest. Looking professional includes arriving calm, prepared and on time.
