What Photos Should You Send to a Modelling Agency?
Learn what model digitals are, which photographs agencies commonly request and how to take useful submission photos at home.
When an agency asks for photographs, it is often asking for information rather than a finished advertising campaign. Clean digitals let bookers see your face, proportions and current appearance.
The essential shots
Requirements differ, but a useful basic set includes a front headshot, profile, waist-up image and full-length front view. Some agencies also request three-quarter or rear views.
Lighting and background
Stand near a large window or shoot outdoors in soft daylight. Use a plain wall and avoid strong shadows. A modern phone camera is usually sufficient when used carefully.
Clothing and grooming
Choose simple fitted clothing that shows your proportions. Keep hair and makeup natural. Avoid beauty filters, skin smoothing and body reshaping.
What not to send
Avoid group photos, sunglasses, heavily styled editorial images as your only material, screenshots and old photographs that no longer represent you.
Portfolio versus digitals
Digitals show what you look like now; a portfolio shows what you can do in front of a camera. Both are useful, but they serve different purposes.
